As a significant milestone in the Abhaya workshop journey, 250 safety and hygiene kits were distributed to participating girls, supporting their well-being and personal security. Each kit was thoughtfully curated with essential hygiene items such as sanitary napkins, soap, and shampoo, promoting regular self-care practices. In a unique and empowering addition, the kits also included safety tools like whistles, hairpins, and pepper spray—compact yet effective items designed to boost the girls’ sense of preparedness. To ensure proper usage, self-defense experts conducted practical demonstrations, training the girls on how to handle the tools confidently and responsibly. This initiative not only addressed their day-to-day needs but also instilled a lasting sense of independence, awareness, and self-assurance.

Feedback:

Receiving the hygiene and safety kit was something I didn't expect, but it made me feel truly valued. For the first time, I had access to all these personal care items in one place—soap, shampoo, sanitary napkins—and it made me realize how important it is to take care of my own hygiene. But what stood out even more was the safety aspect. I never imagined that something as simple as a hairpin could be used for self-defense. The pepper spray demo gave me confidence and a sense of security. Now, I carry my kit with me wherever I go—it makes me feel stronger, safer, and more responsible for myself."

The distribution of the hygiene and safety kits was a game-changer for our girls. In many cases, these young girls don’t have easy access to basic hygiene products, nor the awareness about their importance. This initiative not only filled that gap but also addressed the growing concern around their personal safety. The inclusion of whistles, pepper sprays, and hairpins—along with a proper demonstration—was extremely empowering. The girls were attentive and curious, and I could see a visible shift in their confidence. It's not just about the items—they were given knowledge, dignity, and a sense of self-worth. I truly commend the efforts of the team for making this possible."
